Parent Rights & Family Information in Special Education

I am Leslie McDaniel, a pre-employment transition specialist from Nebraska VR. I have spent the last 26 years serving kids and families as a special education teacher and a foster parent. In addition, I support my adult brother with his vocational goals and accessing his community resources. I’ve learned over the years there are many many resources available if I knew who to ask. My hope is to share what I’ve learned to support others in living their best life.

Transition Services

Nebraska VR services, which stands for Vocational Rehabilitation, is a service for students who qualify to help transition from high school to either the work force or college.  Nebraska VR services works in partnership with schools and Educational Service Units to offer assistance to students on an individual basis.  The role of VR in providing services to students in the school system is primarily one of exploring appropriate post-school goals and needed supports that lead to employment.  Some students may need only a few months of service while others may receive VR help for several years.  If you would like more information on VR services, please follow the link below to the VR homepage and student video on transition services.
