Preschool Halloween

The preschoolers have been very busy in the last two weeks preparing for Halloween! Last week, we learned about Pumpkins and the letter P.  Each child had the chance to explore the insides of a real pumpkin.  Some students said it felt gushy, squishy, slimy and cold.  After the pumpkin was hollowed out, Miss Maurica led the group with a pumpkin volcano!!  We used water, food coloring, dish soap, baking soda, and vinegar to make the pumpkin erupt.  This was an activity to enhance cognitive thinking skills in the students.  It was really fun!!  For this recipe, check out the Rising STARS . . . read more Feedback

Yearbook State Champions-Class D

The Thayer Central yearbook, The Torch, was named the Class D State Champion yearbook at this year's Nebraska High School Press Association competition. They received the Cornhusker Award, its highest award for journalistic excellence in high school publications for the 2013-2014 edition.  Receiving the award on Monday, October 20th, 2014, were yearbook sponsor Stephanie Lanik, and staff: McCall Madsen, Haley Huhman, and Cassie Beeman. read more

Add to the Flock

Huge flocks of Passenger Pigeons once flew across our skys and thanks to Mrs. Anne Baden, they are flying in the intermediate library as a part of the Lost Bird Project.  Student folded the origami pigeons to help remember the Passenger Pigeon which is now extinct.
