Mrs. Baden presenting the check to the 4th grade class.

The Thayer Central Media Center recently celebrated its third quarter AR (Accelerated Reader) success with a meaningful and delicious reward. Students in grades 1-6 participated in a special reading challenge, spearheaded by Mrs. Baden, with a global impact in mind.

For every AR point earned, Anne and Clarence Baden pledged to donate 25 cents to World Central Kitchen, an organization dedicated to providing meals to children and families in need around the world. Teachers joined in too—contributing one dollar for every book they read during the quarter.

Students rose to the challenge, earning over 3,000 AR points, which translated into a $1,500 donation to World Central Kitchen.

To celebrate their efforts, students were treated to a unique culinary experience courtesy of the “World Thayer Central Kitchen.” Thanks to the school’s dedicated kitchen staff, a global-themed charcuterie board was served, featuring foods from around the world.

A heartfelt thank you goes to the Badens for their continued support of Thayer Central students and global initiatives, and to the kitchen staff for making the celebration extra special.
