Thayer Central Elementary welcomed author, Sherri Duskey Rinker, to Thayer Central in April. Mrs. Rinker presented a fun, visual and fast-paced presentation. The students enjoyed interacting with her and learning how an idea becomes a book. She talked to the students about the magic power of books, how important reading is and how life-changing books can be. Along with having a special visitor, the students participated in a “You’ve Been Book’d” activity that allowed them to read books written by Sherri Duskey Rinker so they had a better understanding of who she was and the books she has written. Some of her popular titles include; “Goodnight, Goodnight, Construction Site”, “Steam Train, Dream Train”, “Celebrate You”, “Three Cheers for Kid McGear” and her new popular chapter book, “Revver The Speedway Squirrel." It was a fun filled morning of reading fun for the Thayer Central Students.
