As with most things in 2021, the annual Nebraska FBLA State Leadership Conference looked a little different this year. After having the conference cancelled last year, the state leadership chose to do a virtual conference this year. In a normal year, we have FBLA students spend three days in Kearney at the conference, where they have a chance to listen to a number of different speakers as well as compete in various business competitions. This year, we took all of the business competition tests here at school.
Five students chose to compete this year at the state leadership conference: juniors Cassie Hergott and Kinsley Kugel and sophomores Beth Poisel, Krista Hartley and Kaylee Engle. The girls competed in a number of different events including Agribusiness, Accounting, Business Calculations and Introduction to Business. Each student is required to compete in between three and five contests. This year, we had one student who placed at the competition; Beth Poisel placed 11th in Introduction to Financial Math.
All five students did a great job at the competition and we are hoping that in 2022 we will be able to get back to having an in-person state competition.
