On Friday, March 4th, the Thayer Central Speech Team competed at the C2-4 District Meet at McCool Junction. Amongst stellar competition, Thayer Central took six entries to finals and qualified four of those for the state meet.
Leading the way for Thayer Central was Sophomore Ella Murray, who won the Entertainment Speaking event. Senior Megan Lukert earned runner-up in Informative, one spot ahead of Freshman Adam Lukert at third. Junior Jordan Mariska came in third in Extemporaneous Speaking. Junior Krista Hartley finished in fourth in Extemporaneous and Sophomore Elle Sudbeck came in 5th in Poetry.
Ella, Megan, Jordan, and Adam all qualified for the State C2 Meet in Kearney on March 17th as a result of finishing in the top 3 for their events.
“The meet had some phenomenal talent all around,” said Thayer Central Coach Justin Bomar. “I’m proud of all the accomplishments of our students this season. But I’m also incredibly hopeful for the four continuing their seasons.”
Winning the meet was Twin River, with 224 points. Aquinas Catholic finish second with 136 points. McCool Junction came in third with 116. And Thayer Central scored 96 points, good enough for 4th.
